All the time it felt like I am doing something wrong. And guess what, I was doing everything wrong. 😁 Well, not everything. While calculating the Return on investment so far, was done right, my lack of knowledge lead to misrepresentation of total returns and performance of the portfolio.
In the previous posts and calculations, I didn’t take into consideration the amount paid in. I didn’t even know how much have I paid in the Baltic Stocks. So I changed the approach, made some additions. So, below is the formula I should have used from the beginning.
And after realizing that simple maths won’t work, I went through all transactions, to make the necessary adjustments. Luckily, I was able to see what I have paid in and out of the account from 2020. And then I understood that in my account the returns are only shown on the currently held positions, which look like this in the picture below.
So the profitability report provided by Swedbank is not really of any good use, if I wanted to see how I am doing performance-wise.
The updated portfolio tracker
The performance now should be accurate, and the picture looks much better than I previously assumed. Only 2022 is visible here, because it is easier for me to show the current year, rather than the full monthly breakdown of a period of 2 years. I will make a post about past performances in future. For now, let’s report on May.
Better performance, wow!
If 36.24% – 27.122% = 9.118%, then it means my index so far this year, has performed better than OMX Baltic Benchmark GI.
But in April’s post, I made a big mistake by saying that my index is outperforming the OMX Baltic Benchmark GI. The reality is, that I have to keep learning on representing data. Because since the 1st of July 2020, when I started investing, the OMX Baltic benchmark GI has significantly beaten my index.
Anyway, considering the fact, that I had absolutely no idea what I was doing, (not that I do now 😁) I didn’t do that bad. Oh, the sweet Covid stimulus money…
The portfolio
The portfolio holds 64 positions. Almost all traded companies in the Baltic exchanges. Two new positions have joined – Robus group, ROBUS, and, Punktid technologies, PNKTD.
Dividend chart
May has been the highest in dividends so far. and probably is going to stay like that…
